Patio & Path Repointing
A quality patio can bring so much joy and value to your home; it allows outdoor dining and entertaining and can add significant value to your property.
However, patio mortar is prone to cracking, weed growth and lifting of the slabs if improperly done. Brush-in mixes are on the rise, sold for their speed and ease of installation which makes them cheaper. We’ve seen that after just one or two winters they often fail, meaning homeowners end up paying twice. Patio repointing is in stark contrast to building repointing; here hot lime is not recommended. Instead the mortar should be harder than the patio stones in order to withstand the pressures exerted on them. Repointing properly costs more initially as it’s fairly labour-intensive but should stay intact for many years to come.
